$13.8M plan with stormwater barrier to extend Lincoln Place’s Kangaroo Flat Lifestyle Estate

1 min read

Nick Collishaw (right) and Ben Hindmarsh’s thriving business wants to add 73 units in a bushland expansion of their land lease community, formerly Aviva Bendigo, in the city 150km northwest of Melbourne.

Flooding in 2022 inundated parts of the village in Kangeroo Flat, and Lincoln Place is now required to excavate a large stormwater basin at an existing drain that feeds into Bendigo Creek to mitigate future flooding of the community.

The excavation of the stormwater basin and construction of the new units would see 1.2ha of native vegetation removed and about 30 trees lost across the 5.84ha site.

The plan for the new units, a new community centre, and an internal road, will add to more than 200 existing units, a swimming pool and a bowling green.

Lincoln Place has 21 land lease communities operating.
