The Not For Profit, which was the nation's ninth biggest home care provider in 2023 according to KPMG, has strengthened its position and established a hold in NSW's New England region after buying Presbyterian Aged Care's home care business.
Presbyterian Aged Care (PAC), which sold The Terraces retirement community in Paddington, 3km east of Sydney’s CBD to Anglicare Sydney on 1 November 2023, has approximately 175 home care clients, 700 people receiving Commonwealth Home Support in the Sydney Metropolitan, Illawarra and New England regions and 90 home care employees.
PAC, which states it now only owns and operates four residential aged care homes and six retirement villages, entered into a Heads of Agreement with BaptistCare in late 2023, after it was selected as the preferred purchaser following an expression of interest process.
The transfer is expected to take effect in June 2024.
“We are a growing organisation, and we need a great team to help us continue to deliver life-transforming care and services. We will work with all PAC employees to explore opportunities to continue that important work,” said Charles Moore, Chief Executive Officer of BaptistCare.
“This opportunity fits nicely with our home care growth strategy and will also allow BaptistCare at home to establish a footprint and services in a new region (New England).”
BaptistCare already supports more than 9,000 home care clients and has a team of more than 1,400 employees.
In March last year, BaptistCare finalised the acquisition of three sites, each comprising an aged care home and retirement village, from Tulich Family Communities, and in June last year it merged with BaptistCare Western Australia.
The BaptistCare at home team has new offices and hubs underway in NSW and WA.
