Aged care specialist Richard Crookes Constructions has been awarded the design and construct contract for the redevelopment of Our Lady Help of Christians Church and School at Epping, 22km from Sydney’s CBD, for Stockland Retirement Living.
“This is an exciting milestone for the Epping redevelopment project. With this contract in place, we can start early works to prepare the site for the start of construction later this year,” Calum Ross (pictured below), Head of Development, Stockland Retirement Living, said.
“The retirement village will comprise 172 independent living apartments and the aged care facility will comprise 132 beds, providing the growing Epping community with much-needed seniors accommodation in a well-designed, contemporary building.
“The Epping redevelopment project will transform the site owned by the Catholic Diocese of Broken Bay to include a new parish hall connected to the existing church, presbytery and primary school, as well as a retail space, out of school hours care, retirement village and aged care facility."
The SOURCE reported in May last year that the redevelopment was to be a 29-storey complex including an aged care home, a Stockland Retirement Living village and a multi-level primary school.
In March this year, private equity business EQT paid Stockland $987 million for its Retirement Living division.
Under the terms of the agreement, EQT will acquire Stockland’s portfolio of 58 established Retirement Living villages, 10 development projects underway and in planning, along with the associated management platform. The Epping redevelopment is part of the agreement.
