Star Ratings will go live in December, but many are concerned that even very good aged care operators will receive only one or two stars – with potentially devastating consequences for occupancy, staff and viability.
Designed to help consumers make choices about aged care, providers would like to see more explanatory information from the government before the rollout.
There are also concerns about the accuracy of the Ratings, given they will not reflect the real-time standard of the operations, as quality assessments and consumer experience surveys – the two largest components of the Ratings – are only conducted annually.
