Juniper takes on CHSP services in remote south and east of WA

1 min read

Western Australia's largest Not For Profit aged care provider is taking over the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) services in the rural and remote Great Southern and Goldfields regions, in the southeast of the state, previously provided by WA Country Health Service (WACHS).

WACHS delivered services to 250 clients in and around the towns of Katanning, Woodanilling, Moojebing, Broomehill, Kojonup, Boscabel, Muradup, Tambellup, Gnowangerup, Jerramungup, Ravensthorpe, Hopetoun, and Bremer Bay.

With staffing a key challenge in the sector, the Juniper team has visited Katanning, Hopetoun, and Kojonup, where almost all WACHS staff joined Juniper. All WACHS staff delivering care have been offered employment with Juniper. In the coming months, Juniper staff will visit other areas were services are delivered.

“As we learn more about the needs of each community, we hope to offer further employment opportunities and services,” said Juniper CEO Russell Bricknell.

Juniper will also be able to assess if it has the opportunity to take on more CHSP customers and will be able to offer Home Care Packages for customers with higher care needs.

The Not For Profit announced the appointment Grant Robinson to the position of Chair in February 2024, after the departure of Maree Anason, who retired.

Under Maree's leadership, Juniper, which is part of the Uniting Church in Western Australia, grew to be one of WA's largest Not For Profit aged care providers, with 24 residential aged care homes across the state, 11 retirement villages, 2,200 employees, and more than 4,200 customers.
