After over 40 years of ownership, Amana Living is set to hand over its aged care home, retirement village and home care services in the regional town, around 593km west of Perth, to the rural and regional specialist – marking the acquisition of the Not For Profit’s 28th aged care facility.
The operations include:
- Edward Collick Home (pictured), an 89-bed residential aged care home currently home to 54 residents,
- Muschamp Village, a 35-unit retirement village currently home to 10 residents, and
- Home care services supporting 75 people in Kalgoorlie and the wider Goldfields region via the Home Care Package and Commonwealth Home Support Programs, including a day club.
The West Australian Not For Profit, which has 17 retirement villages and 13 aged care homes in Perth, Mandurah and Bunbury, cited workforce shortages, increasing infrastructure costs, and the complexities of managing services from Perth for the decision.
“Our priority has always been to provide the highest quality of care to the people we serve,” said Amana Living CEO Stephanie Buckland.
“We are confident that Respect will sustain and enhance aged care services in the Goldfields. Importantly, this transition ensures continuity of care, job security for our staff, and a seamless experience for residents, clients and families.”
Jason Binder, CEO and Managing Director of Respect, has welcomed the opportunity to build on Amana Living’s legacy in the region.
Residents’ residential and retirement living contracts will remain unchanged, while all Amana Living employees will be offered employment with Respect on the same terms and conditions. The transfer is expected to be completed by 1 May 2025, subject to regulatory approvals.
