Aged care providers urged to apply for Government’s Registered Nurse payments

Aged care providers are being invited to apply for the Federal Government’s Aged Care Registered Nurses’ Payment on behalf of eligible employees.

The non-competitive grants are available through Grant Connect, with applications closing on 14 December.

The payments of up to $6,000 for full-time RNs, pro-rata for part-time RNs, are available to employees who have worked as Registered Nurses for the same residential aged care, home care or CHSP provider over two eligibility periods: 1 November 2021 – 31 October 2022 and 1 May 2022 – 31 October 2022.

According to Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer Professor Alison McMillan (pictured), the payment recognises the contributions RNs make to provide older Australians with high-quality care.

“Registered nurses continue to provide excellence in clinical leadership across aged care. I encourage aged care providers to apply for the registered nurses’ payment and pass onto their staff as soon as possible.

“The payment also further recognises and rewards nurses who work in rural towns and communities, and in remote and very remote communities.

“Nurses who complete formal post-graduate qualifications or take on additional responsibilities such as management, training and Infection Prevention and Control are also recognised,” she said.
