$18.6M aged care facility to be built next to ageing RFBI Cessnock Masonic Retirement Village in NSW Hunter Valley

1 min read

The Not For Profit is fortunate its retirement and aged care facility, which was opened in 1985, is built on more than 3ha of land on the outskirts of the town.

It has been given approval to build a two-storey replacement for its aged care building, with 60 rooms consisting of three households of up to 20 single beds with an ensuite, adjacent to the existing facility which has 65 residents with two eight-bed secured memory support units.

After the new aged care facility is built, the residents will move in from the existing building, which is to be demolished within 18 months of their departure.

There will be onsite carparking for a minimum of 32 cars, with two additional spots for disability parking. Currently all units have garages or free-standing carports.

There are also 89 retirement living units and a community hall on site. Some units will be demolished for the new aged care facility and RFBI plans to build new retirement living units in the future.

The SOURCE: RFBI is fortunate it has room to build a replacement village next to its existing facility. Many providers are not so lucky.
