Ageing Australia lobbies for aged care to be part of next Tuesday’s Federal Budget

1 min read

Ageing Australia's Head of Government Relations Jay Moran is in Canberra this week ahead of the 2025-26 Federal Budget calling on politicians to make aged care a priority.

The Budget, which the Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has said it will include spending $689 million over the Forward Estimates in next Tuesday’s Budget to lower scripts under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme to $25, will be delivered on Tuesday, 25 March. The Prime Minister has already promised $644 million for new care clinics and an $8.5 billion Medicare package.

"This 2025 federal election, we are calling on all sides of politics to prioritise aged care in the next term of Parliament to ensure older Australians receive the care they need, where they want it and when they need it," says Ageing Australia.

"This includes addressing the workforce crisis, supporting sector transition and improving access to aged care."
