Ibis Care buys two multi-million dollar profitable aged care homes

The For Profit provider of aged care accommodation and independent retirement living to the St George and Sutherland Shire communities since 2006, has bought two existing residential aged care homes owned by the Moschella family.

Director - Health, Aged Care & Retirement at Commercial Collective, Shane Nicholson, together with co-agents Ian Sanders and Justin Hazell from Colliers, brokered the sale of Ferndale Gardens Aged Care, Mortdale, 20km south of Sydney's CBD, and Huntingdon Gardens Aged Care Bexley, 14km southwest of Sydney's CBD, to Ibis Care.

“This very significant transaction comprises 307 beds across two high-performing aged care facilities and represents a significant expansion to Ibis Care's aged care presence in the St George region of Sydney,” Shane said.

Unlike many aged care operators, Ferndale Gardens Aged Care, which was completely rebuilt in 2009, has been making a profit - $2.6 million in 2022 and $2.9 million in 2021.

Frank, Christine, Rosemarie and Jospeh Moschella family have expanded Huntingdon Gardens from a 55-bed high care facility in 1970 to a 171-bed modern facility.

“The process was highly competitive with seven offers received,” said Ian.

Ibis Care has two residential aged care homes in Miranda and Blakehurst. It also owns and operates Blakehurst Villas, an independent living community.
