Increasing compliance and significant workforce challenges still affect aged care sector

The second Aged Care Sector Pulse Survey saw 1,515 responses to the survey, with 84% of these being people from aged care providers and its workforce.

The main complaints were the speed of reform and the significant workforce challenges.

The Department of Health and Aged Care said it is working on how to better support the sector.

The immediate actions taken to address the feedback include:

  • publishing an aged care reform roadmap last month, which will be regularly updated;
  • increasing readership of its key communication channel, “Your Aged Care Update” newsletter; and
  • better targeted guidance materials for workers, and increasing engagement with local networks, channels and groups.

The Aged Care Sector Pulse Survey is a bi-annual exercise, with the next survey to be released in September.
