Former Acting Inspector-General of Aged Care, now consultant, Ian Yates AM was the first invited speaker at LEADERS SUMMIT 2025, where he said the best way to drive future reforms is to go to the Government with a unified vision.
"We oughtn't be waiting for Government to have a vision," Ian told attendess.
"In my experience, the only way Government has had a vision is when the sector got its act together to have a vision, to set out the parameters of where we ought to be going, and worked with Government in a serious and informed way.
"The industry needs to collectively work out how to work together, to take the initiative to Government, to Opposition, to the cross bench, who need to be engaged, to media, to thoughtfully inform the media, and develop a new narrative about where we need to go."
The SUMMIT program was carefully curated to lead delegates through the significant challenges and opportunities the aged care and retirement living sectors face.
