The South Australian Not For Profit wants to redevelop its existing facility in Marion, 10km south of the Adelaide CBD, including building a 150-place residential aged care home, with the existing home on the site recently marking its 50-year anniversary.
The project will consolidate all Resthaven’s services on Township Road and Finniss Street into a single campus. Resthaven Marion Retirement Village will be left unchanged.
The proposed redevelopment, with plans lodged with City of Marion Council, also will include Community Services, Wellness Services, and Community Respite Services.
Architecture and interiors are by Brown Falconer. The project will aim to have its operations carbon neutral and to achieve a high green star rating.
If the project is approved, Resthaven expects it to be developed in three stages, taking four years to complete.
Residents at the existing 156-bed aged care home will move into their new home when construction is complete.
Last August, the residential aged care, home care, and retirement living operator became the fourth largest retirement living provider in South Australia when it acquired 799 units across 11 villages from equity investor Brookfield-owned Aveo.
Resthaven is also undergoing a three-stage redevelopment of its Bellevue Heights aged care facility in Mitcham, 7km south of Adelaide’s CBD, with Stage 2 of the project expected to be completed this year. Stage one of the $50 million redevelopment of Westbourne Park was completed last year. Stage two is underway.
