UnitingCare Queensland CEO Craig Barke to quit at end of June 2025

1 min read

After 14 years at the helm of the conglomerate of household care brands, including BlueCare, UnitingCare, ARRCS, Lifeline in Queensland, The Wesley Hospital, Buderim Private Hospital, St Stephen’s Hospital and St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital, Craig will step down at the end of the financial year.

Craig served UnitingCare first as a Board member in 2011 and as Chair from 2014, until his appointment as CEO in 2017.

UnitingCare Queensland now owns and operates 36 retirement villages, 46 residential aged care homes with 3,419 beds and serves 54,876 clients in the community. In May last year, BlueCare officially opened Stage 1 of its ThomsonAdsett-designed Sunrise Beach Aged Care facility on the Queensland Sunshine Coast.

“Craig has guided the organisation through some very challenging periods including the COVID-19 pandemic and unprecedented aged care sector reform. Under Craig’s leadership, UnitingCare has expanded its service offerings, modernised and streamlined its operations, and deepened its community engagement and relationships,” Board Chair, Jim Demack, said.

The search for Craig’s successor will commence shortly.
