AN-ACC $55M Transition Fund open with invitations to apply already sent

Applications are now open for the AN-ACC Transition Fund, which will support residential aged care providers that will receive less funding under AN-ACC as they transition to the new system.

The AN-ACC system will come into effect on 1 October 2022. The system has been designed to better reflect the costs of delivering care by having independent assessors assess residents and classify them into 13 classes, taking physical ability, cognitive ability, behaviour and mental health into account.

Shadow assessments have been underway since April 2021, although COVID-19 has caused delays.

While the government has put the AN-ACC starting price at $216.80 per resident per day, some providers will receive more than that and some will receive less.

The Government’s $55 million Transition Fund is designed to support providers who will receive less as they transition to the new system, with the aim that transitioning to AN-ACC won’t impact on their ability to provide care to residents.

Eligible providers have been determined by the Department of Health and have been sent an invitation to apply.

Providers that believe they are eligible but have not received an invitation can contact the AN-ACC Funding Helpdesk ((02) 4406 6002 or ANACCfundinghelpdesk@health.gov.au) for information on how to estimate the difference between their ACFI base and their expected AN-ACC funding.

Applications close 30 June 2024.
