The $340 million flagship over 50s community under construction in Burpengary is in the second stage of homes, with a limited release of 8 lakeside homes, part of the premium Emerald Collection, released this month. These eight homes offer bespoke finishes and direct lake frontage.
Situated on 150ha near Deception Bay Conservation Park, GemLife Moreton Bay aims to set new benchmarks for sustainable living. More than 60 percent of the land is being set aside for native revegetation and protection of koala habitat.
“The GemLife Moreton Bay community has been designed with sustainability and the environment in mind. Sustainable features such as our award-winning virtual power plant (VPP) renewable energy solution, fully electric homes and green spaces that promote biodiversity, have been carefully considered to ensure residents can live here in harmony with nature, and enjoy a low-maintenance and low-impact lifestyle,” said GemLife CEO Adrian Puljich.
Adrian said GemLife’s VPP program would achieve almost 80% onsite renewable energy and storage through a combination of rooftop solar with community batteries.
“With cost-of-living pressures a major concern for Australians, particularly for our over 50s homeowners – many of whom are on fixed incomes, the VPP will play an important role in shielding residents from soaring electricity prices, offering bill consistency,” he said.
GBCA Chief Impact Officer, Jorge Chapa, said GemLife’s commitment to creating a fossil fuel-free community powered by a Virtual Power Plant is truly groundbreaking.
Prospecta Utilities provided advisory services to assist GemLife with the submission of a Green Building Council Australia’s Green Star Communities rating application for their Moreton Bay development.
More and more operators will be seeking a 5 Star community rating as it sets it apart from rivals. The Weekly SOURCE reported last Tuesday, Ingenia Lifestyle’s Springside in Beveridge, 37km north of Melbourne, is the first to have its homes meet the Green Star designed assessment from the Green Building Council of Australia.
