The NZ-owned operator made “significant revisions” to their original plan to build 95 units between three- to five-storeys at the Tarragindi Bowls Club, 8km south of the Brisbane CBD, after a “mixed” community response to the development according to RetireAustralia CEO Alison Quinn.
“The approved design has seen a significant reduction in height and scale from the initial submission together with improved and more accessible community amenity,” she said.
The revised design includes 94 apartments with supporting facilities, a 10-rink bowling green and a new clubhouse, plus community parklands and a playground designed for public use.
Nathan Young, General Manager of Yeronga Services and Community Club (YSCC), which bought the Bowls Club in 2008, says that while there were a range of options considered for the site, the RetireAustralia partnership was the only one that would preserve the Club for the future.
Construction on the village will now start mid- to late this year.
