The Not For Profit integrated healthcare company has announced it will exit the joint venture to focus on its core business.

Through the Calvary Amplar Health Joint Venture (CAHJV), Calvary Health Care and Amplar Health have delivered SA Health's My Home Hospital service, delivering hospital care in the home.

The service has been operating for three years and treated more than 17,000 patients, including 2,500 aged care residents.

Under the program, a virtual hospital medical officer accepts 'patients', and nursing and allied health staff visit up to three times a day, either in their home or in virtual ward rounds or through remote monitoring.

Consent for Calvary Health Care to exit the venture is required by the South Australian Minister of Health and Wellbeing, Chris Picton. Once obtained, Amplar Health will become sole owner of the venture.

“Calvary is proud of the joint venture’s successes in its short time, including accreditation as one of the first stand-alone virtual hospitals," said Calvary Health Care’s National Chief Executive Officer, Martin Bowles

"However, we have refreshed our strategic vision to deliver great, connected care across the Calvary services we provide."

Amplar Health CEO Rob Read said, “Together, we’ve made significant strides in the delivery of healthcare, caring for patients where they are most comfortable and saving valuable hospital beds in the process."

“We look forward to growing the home hospital service and remain committed to advancing innovative digital health solutions to provide high-quality, care to patients in the comfort of their own homes.”
