96.4% of Anglicare Sydney’s Woolooware Shores Village residents want ‘full care’ offered in pilot

The promise of an on-site care team including nursing and care staff, allied health services, available 24/7, has captured the imagination of residents and their families.

Cassandra Mathews, Chief Executive of Anglicare Sydney's Seniors Living, said: “We held a number of group presentations and individual resident meetings in the lead up to a Special Resolution in April, with 96.4% of residents voting 'yes' to the new program.

“To support this new model, we’ve increased the number of staff onsite, including concierge, hospitality, event management, nursing and care staff, allied health services, gardening and maintenance.  The plan is to have a care team based onsite at Woolooware Shores to provide care to residents, as it is needed.”

The on-site care team will provide care to residents in shorter timeframes, providing greater flexibility to residents depending on their needs, as well as more convenience through services such as concierge, technology support and enhanced hospitality, Cassandra told the National Retirement Living Summit.

This Proof of Concept for new residents is the next key milestone ahead, before determining if other large-scale villages would adopt a similar approach.
