One of the aged care sector’s best-known innovators has installed a General Practitioner (GP) office within his business, Odyssey Lifestyle Care Communities in Robina on Queensland’s Gold Coast.
Phil Usher says it is the first integration of a comprehensive GP service within an aged care setting in Australia.
He has partnered with Launceston, Tas-based Harvest Medical, bringing primary healthcare services directly to the doorstep of residents.
“Our residents can now receive prompt medical attention without the need for external appointments or transportation, allowing them to enjoy a higher quality of life while ensuring their health and wellbeing remain top property,” Phil said.
The on-site premises is located in Odyssey’s Ipanema building in Robina and includes a roster of two attending doctors, six physiotherapists and one Occupational Therapist.
“By being present within the community, our team at Harvest Medical can truly understand the individual needs of each resident, develop personalised care plans and provide proactive solutions that promote their health and well-being,” said Harvest Medical owner Shanan Procter.
