Queensland Government is again looking to amend its Manufactured Homes (Residential Parks) Act 2003.
UDIA Queensland is representing the sector as state government looks to amend legislation regarding:
- site rent increases, and
- unsold manufactured homes.
The Government has asked homeowners to take a survey to share their experience of living in a Queensland residential park. There were 2,201 survey responses and 52 submissions from homeowners, park owners and other interested parties.
A Consultation Regulatory Impact Statement and summary document was released on 15 May to seek feedback on policy options to change the Manufactured Homes (Residential Parks) Act 2003 and find their impacts.
Options include:
- simplifying the sales process,
- restricting the methods used to increase site rent,
- prohibiting market rent reviews,
- park owners needed to publish a comparison document about their park on their website,
- park owners needed to prepare maintenance and capital replacement plans, and
- a limited opt-in buyback scheme for homeowners.
The government is now assessing the responses before deciding the next steps for regulatory change, if needed.
