The applicant for a DA to build 32 units for over 55s in six two-storey buildings, with a community centre, at Narraweena, 18km northeast of Sydney’s CBD, took the plans straight to the NSW Land and Environment Court citing deemed refusal.
The proposal is near two existing retirement villages Marston Group’s Marston Living and Australian Unity’s Willandra Village and Bungalows.
Northern Beaches Local Council has urged Northern Beaches Local Planning Panel, which met yesterday to determine the DA, to reject the 6.5ha project.
Daedalus Management/Wei Ru Niu’s plan is “not considered to achieve a scale, bulk and height that is appropriate for its surroundings,” said the local council.
The planning panel is expected to release its determination next week.
