Only in SATURDAY: Whiddon CEO Chris Mamarelis: “We have a commitment to aged care, but we have a commitment to remain relevant and viable”

The Not for Profit currently has four sites with development plans underway where it is weighing up what proportion of the site is developed as retirement living versus aged care. 

“We have a commitment to aged care, but we have a commitment to remain relevant and viable into the future,” said Chris.  

On this basis retirement villages win, aged care beds lose. 

“We’ve been around for 75 years so right now, given the current funding model, there must be a substantial mix of retirement living so that the projects are viable.”
