“They pay the deposit with cash in their hands”: HammondCare General Manager Independent Living

1 min read

HammondCare has completed and sold 12 independent living unit (ILU) villas at its Strathearn Villas in Scone, in the NSW Upper Hunter, with three more under construction as part of a long-term plan to develop 23 villas on the site.

“The demand for the independent living villas at Strathearn has exceeded our expectations. They come for the services on site, to be with their friends. They come cash in hand wanting to put down a deposit,” HammondCare General Manager Independent Living, Property and Homelessness Michael Cooney said.

The Sydney-based charity also has two other independent living sites in Scone, 271km north of Sydney. Strathearn Villas is part of a site which includes a 64-bed residential aged care home.

“The integrated approach is HammondCare’s model. We have it at Hammondville and Miranda as it will be at Greenwich and Wahroonga campuses,” said Michael.
