Crickets on aged care from the Opposition in Budget response

There was a notable omission from the Shadow Aged Care Minister Anne Ruston's press release in response to the 2024 Federal Budget.

The missive mentioned primary healthcare, mental health, and women's health, but not a mention of aged care, which she has generally held strong opinions on since taking up the Shadow Minister role in 2022.

Similarly, Opposition Leader Peter Dutton made no mention of aged care in his 2024 Budget reply speech.

In 2023, it was a different story. In his Budget reply speech, Opposition Leader Peter Dutton said the LNP wants to work with the Government on aged care reforms to ensure the system is sustainable.

Late last year, Senator Ruston issued a statement saying, “The Coalition provided a clear offer of bipartisanship on [aged care reforms]."
