22 million hours of support since 2014: Mable celebrates 10th anniversary as it looks to future growth

A decade after being founded by Peter Scutt and Tony Charara as Better Caring, the profit-for-purpose aged care and disability support worker platform has marked the occasion by unveiling a new mural designed by a member of its community at its Sydney office.

Tony, now the CEO, told the audience at an event to mark the occasion that the provider is now providing the same level of hours in one month as it provided in 12 months seven years ago, with 22 million hours of support received by clients since 2014.

With around 9,000 workers signing up to Mable to provide support every month, there are 40,000 support works active at any time on the platform, with around 30,000 clients using the site in 2024.

Former CEO Peter Scutt also pointed to the significant philanthropic efforts that Mable has made via its Community Grants program, which has so far provided $215,000 via 19 grants since 2019 and helped more than 60 regional towns where access to home services is challenged.

To celebrate the anniversary, Mable reached out to its community to contribute suggestions for a mural, with staff voting for the winning submission by Todd, a Mable client living with younger-onset Parkinson’s Disease.

Todd told the room that he had used two other home care providers before making the switch to Mable, where he was connected with support worker Jonathan, who is “incredible” and assists him to look after his garden and his children.

Mable now plans to further invest in its platform in the next 12 months – stay tuned for more.
