BaptistCare’s senior housing development at its birthplace recommended for approval

The State Significant Development for the Not For Profit's historical site in Carlingford, 22km northwest of Sydney's CBD, has been recommended for approval by the NSW Government's Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure and it is now before the Independent Planning Commission for determination.

The proposal, with a capital cost of $188.2 million is for the construction of seven, single to six storey buildings providing for:  

  • 130 independent living units and a respite day centre; 

  • a 96-bed residential aged care facility; 

  • ancillary amenities including kitchen and laundry facilities, cafés, salon, gym, multi-purpose and function rooms, pool, library, cinema, allied health, dining areas and administration / offices; and  

  • 277 seniors housing and five respite day centre car parking spaces, together with service vehicle, ambulance, motorcycle and bicycle parking spaces. 

The Carlingford site was the birthplace of BaptistCare. The approved proposal will be located to the south of the site, behind the BaptistCare Community Housing development Gimbawali Place Apartments, to be made up of 162 one, two and three-bedroom apartment for people over 55 and single-parent families who are still in the workforce.
