1 min read

BlueCare, which is owned by Not For Profit Uniting Care Queensland, has opened the $18.9 million refurbishment of its 111-bed BlueCare Toowoomba aged care home, 125km west of Brisbane.

The Federal Government committed $8.9 million to the project and Uniting Church of Australia provided the remaining $10 million.

The refurbishment took two years almost to the day and involved increasing the number of beds on offer and renovating existing rooms to meet new higher standards. Communal spaces for residents, including dining, living and recreational areas, were refurbished and upgrades were made to back-of-house areas, including rebuilding the kitchen and laundry areas, and renovating the reception and admin spaces.

There are also improved spaces for health staff, including doctors and physiotherapists, to deliver services at the facility, and the opportunity to support nurse and case student's clinical training.

Cottee Parker was the architect for the project, with Total Construction the builder. The project manager was Lead Consultants.
