Clayton Church Homes, which is affiliated with the Uniting Church, is set to open its $28 million, 60-bed aged care home, Summerhill, in March 2024.
Set in the Adelaide Hills in Uraidla, 17km west of the Adelaide CBD, opposite Wotton Family Wines, the home will have a staffed gym, on-site hairdresser, large, shared community areas, private dining room for special occasions, and on-site car parking. Its design is based on the small household model of care.
“When the original community nursing home was transferred to us, we pledged to make this an iconic home," said Greg Adey, Chair of Clayton Church Homes.
"That is exactly what we have created. Summerhill is a wonderful place to live or work, as well as a vibrant addition to the Adelaide Hills. It reflects what is important to older people and their families as well as the local community.”
The redevelopment will expand Summerhill from 25 to 60 beds, addressing a bed shortage in the area.
The architects are Brown Falconer and the builders are Kennett Builders.
Clayton Church Homes currently operates five aged care homes and 12 retirement villages in South Australia.
