Cooloola Waters Group conditionally approved to build retirement village next to aged care home in Mossman, QLD

The  57 single-storey apartments, together with a gymnasium, multi-function hall, communal kitchen, swimming pool and hobby shed, will be built next to the existing Kuburri Aged Care Centre and behind Mossman Hospital in the town in north Queensland.

Cooloola Waters Group, which has launched Stage 3 of its first retirement village in Tin Can Bay on the Sunshine Coast, said it has already received four expressions of interest in buying the single storey 126sqm duplex style units, with each consisting of three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a single garage.

Specific details are still being finalised but Cooloola Waters Holdings estimates the prices of the homes to be somewhere in the range of between $420,000 to $460,000.

“The concept of a well-equipped and thoughtfully designed retirement community in Mossman has resonated positively with retirees and their families seeking a lifestyle in a picturesque setting,” CEO Gary Simonite told Newspot.

Douglas Shire Council said it has not indicated any issues that might delay the village going ahead.

“I put up a motion about three years ago in regards to a retirement village, to go out and find who can build one, so it’s exciting to see we have it on paper now,” Mayor Lisa Scomazzon said.

“I look forward to seeing this village being built in the near future.”
