The land lease operator, part of Ingenia Communities, which has started construction of four new Over 50s communities in FY24, launched one of them on Tuesday – Drift in the coastal town of Bargara, 384km north of Brisbane.
The 16ha greenfield site will see its first settlements early next year with the first release of homes to be available to deposit holders on Monday, 6 November, and released to the public shortly afterwards. Two-bedroom houses are selling from $525,000 and three-bedroom from $669,0000. 21 homes will be available in the first stage.
Ingenia Communities’ Head of Development, Von Slater said Ingenia has recognised the importance of the environment for generations to come and Drift had a minimum seven-star NatHERS sustainability rating.
“Connectivity and social opportunities are not compromised nor is the community's commitment to sustainability,” Von said.
“The homes have been designed with thermally efficient construction materials providing our residents with thermally efficient housing. We’ve ensured all external walls are insulated, ceiling fans installed in all bedrooms and living rooms, and built to boundary walls along the west on all homes.”
Von said the importance of looking after the local turtle population at Bargara had not been overlooked.
“Ingenia has consulted with ecologists specialising in turtles to provide input and advice into the design of the community and facilities in order to minimise any impacts to the turtles,” she said.
“The design and position of the clubhouse allows the building to shield artificial light generated from the lagoon pool area, which will allow the residents to make the most of the pool during the turtle nesting season, minimising any disturbances.”
