Land lease communities have traditionally pitched themselves at active people aged in their early sixties.
Ingenia Communities has facilitated home care for some time and more and more operators are allowing residents to access home care.
These words from Ingenia Communities' NSW and VIC Head of Development Michael Rabey (pictured) at its latest and biggest ever development Archer's Run in Morisset, on the western foreshore of Lake Macquarie, 150km north of Sydney's CBD, caught our attention.
“As an over 55s lifestyle provider, our buyers will inevitably feel the impact of age quicker than others. We need to have contemporary appeal while thinking long-term,” he said.
“We have future-proofed these homes with consideration to needs that may arise as we age – from lifestyle and how our residents want to live, down to the nitty-gritty like the placement of appliances so they stay within an easy reach.”
It is not yet possible to view any of the homes available at Archer's Run, which has development approval for 606 homes. The first stage of homes is expected to be complete later this year.
Von Slater, Ingenia Communities’ Executive General Manager, Development, said the homes proposed for Archer's Run will not differ greatly than what is already on offer at other Ingenia Lifestyle communities.
"We have been very conscious that people who move into our community may want to age in place and we have been providing that,” she said.
