“It looks like a five-star hotel”: Resthaven opens Stage One of $46.5M Adelaide aged care redevelopment

1 min read

Stage One of the redevelopment of Resthaven Westbourne Park, in the inner southern suburb of Adelaide, has been handed over by Kennett Builders, and 42 residents have moved into their new home. They lived on site in an original building while the work was being done.

The renovation of the 121-bed Westbourne Park, which is being completed in two stages, will replace 68 rooms with five new wings. Each wing will be based on the small household model of care.

Stage One consists of 42 beds over three wings, as well as large activity spaces, games areas, private dining areas, outdoor walking trails, raised garden beds, reading areas, wide corridors, and high quality fittings.

The Not For Profit will now begin Stage Two, which will consist of 26 rooms over two storeys.

The site of Stage Two is the back of the Resthaven Westbourne Park site. The original 1967 building will be demolished to make way for the new building.

Stage Two is expected to be completed in 2025.
