The latest development application for 45 two-bedroom units for seniors living has been lodged with Campbelltown City Council by the NSW Government for Claymore, the suburb 54km southwest of Sydney's CBD.
The ageing population of Western Sydney has sprung the government into action as there will be a 206% increase in people aged over 85 and a 93% increase for those between 65 and 84 by 2036 – 12 years from now.
The following applications for seniors living units have been approved elsewhere:
- 31 two-bedroom units for seniors living in a two and three-storey development in Airds, 56km southwest of Sydney's CBD. The tender for the Stage 3 work has been awarded with the building forecast to start construction in mid-2024.
- 23 two-bedroom and eight one-bedroom units for seniors living in a two and three-storey development in Bradbury, 54km southwest of Sydney's CBD. Development of stage 9 has started with forecast completion in late 2025.
- 45 two-bedroom units for seniors living in a three-storey development in Rosemeadow, 56km southwest of Sydney's CBD. Development of stage 3 has started with forecast completion in mid 2025.
- 21 two-bedroom and two one-bedroom units for seniors living in a two- and three-storey development in Claymore, 56km southwest of Sydney's CBD. The tender for stage 4 is being released in 2024.
