Ocean Gardens City Beach retirement village in Perth to expand with two all-age buildings

1 min read

The $48.9 million project would include the demolition of eight independent living units within the Not For Profit Ocean Gardens retirement village in City Beach, 10km west-northwest of Perth’s CBD, to make way for the proposed three buildings.

“The proposed development at Ocean Gardens aims to enhance the existing retirement village with contemporary and sustainable living options,” states the document by Planning Solutions

The over 55s village, which has 161 villas and 71 apartments, sits in 6.5ha. Planning Solutions, on behalf of Ocean Gardens City Beach, has submitted Hames Sharley-designed plans for 55 apartments across three buildings, including 24 independent living units over four-storeys, and 31 all-age apartments in a four and six-storey buildings. The units would range from one-bedroom, one-bathroom units with private courtyards to three-bedroom configurations.

The development would target a 7.5-star NatHERS average rating.

The Ocean Gardens City Beach project fits with local and regional planning requirements and helps meet the Town of Cambridge’s goals for housing diversity, as well as Western Australia’s growing need for purpose-built seniors’ accommodation, according to planning documents.
