Two development applications have been lodged for the continued redevelopment of the village in the city, 34km west of Sydney’s CBD.
The applications build on an earlier stage of the redevelopment, which created 72 new retirement living apartments. 75% have sold since St Hedwig Village opened in May last year.
Subject to Blacktown City Council approval, the new application for the retirement village will include the removal of the original independent living units and community hall, and the construction of 46 new apartments, a community centre including a chapel, hair salon, workshop, café, and private function rooms. Additionally, a new wellness centre will be built, offering a gym and spaces for allied health and day respite services.
The residential aged care home on site will be renovated in line with the new aged care design guidelines to create a home-like environment.
Subject to Council approval, the refurbished home will offer 94 beds, including the addition of 12 care suites, all with private ensuites.
Construction is planned to commence in 2026.
