Plantation Retirement Resorts file plans for 96-unit village on QLD Sunshine Coast

1 min read

Formerly known as Oasis Retirement Resorts, the owner/operator is seeking approval from the Queensland Government for a vertical retirement village across three towers in Caloundra.

Plantation Retirement Resorts already has a seven-storey, 42-unit vertical village in Cotton Tree, a coastal suburb in Maroochydore. The group also owns and operates an Over 50's retirement resort at Rosemount in the Sunshine Coast and is now close to 75% complete on a resort at Morayfield, Moreton Bay.

The brainchild of Leanne Jones, Dale Massie and Mal Pratt, Plantation is also building a 56-unit development in Maroochydore set to be completed in 2025.

The Caloundra development is proposed to be built in two separate stages, the first release would include 52 units followed by the on-site manager’s unit and the remainder of the 96 dwellings.

According to the plans three of the proposed towers exceed the 40m length limit, reaching lengths of 55m.

“With consideration to the scale of the development and good building articulation described above, the separation proposed between the towers is reasonable and coupled with generous corridor widths exceeding six metres facilitates good cross ventilation and natural light,” the report stated.
