Billed as the ultimate retirement opportunity, the second luxury retirement living development by Retirement by Moran has opened overlooking Cronulla Beach. 

Retirement by Moran, headed by Chief Executive Dr Shane Moran, paid $40 million for the site.  

Managing director Sally Taylor said all residents who moved in during the first week came from within a 5km radius. 

"Sage allows them to live independently, but in a beautiful environment and within a very connected, warm and welcoming community," she said. 

30 seniors, four dogs and a cat have moved into the eight-storey development of 37 two- and three-bedroom apartments, costing from $2 million to $4.975 million for a penthouse.  

There is a rooftop heated pool and pavilion, infra-red sauna, lounge-library, fitness centre, cinema, wine cellar and workshop. All apartments have a double garage. 

Four retail areas on ground level are about to be offered for sale via an expressions of interest campaign. 

The art-deco- meets-coastal-chic building is a significant replacement to the previous apartment development. 

Sage by Moran is a joint venture with property fund giant Soul Pattinson.
