The private residential care operator has begun construction on its 152-bed Rockpool Songbird Oxley site, 10km southwest of Brisbane's CBD, as it continues to be one of the few providers building new aged care facilities.
CEO Melissa Argent turned the first sod alongside builder, Michael McNab, Economic Development Queensland’s, Debbie McNamara and Rockpool Co-Founder and CFO, Michael Watson at a ceremony yesterday (Thursday 7 December 2023).
The six-level home will provide rooms for both singles and couples under the small household model, with access to domestic kitchens, walking tracks, an on-site laundry, outdoor BBQs, a hobby shed, a hair and beauty salon, and a wellness and vitality centre.
The site – scheduled to open in early 2025 – will also be neighboured by a childcare centre, similar to its aged care home at Carseldine – Australia’s first 5 Star Green Star aged care facility – which opened in August 2022.
Rockpool only officially opened its Pelican Waters home on the Sunshine Coast, 70km from Brisbane, last month.
