Queensland-based village operator Aura Holdings has lodged plans with Brisbane City Council for a new retirement village with four buildings, ranging from two to five storeys and 126 independent living apartments, in the northwestern corner of McLeod Country Golf Club at Mount Ommaney in Brisbane’s western growth corridor.
The operator, which in March this year went to the market to seek a new investor alongside its existing funding partner, Singapore-based SC Capital Partners, has struck a leasehold agreement for 1.6ha of the golf course for its two-stage development.
Marchese Partners | Life3A has designed two, three and four-bedroom configurations for an array of physical capabilities, living styles and preferences in low-rise villas, standard apartments, and penthouses.
Under the redevelopment, the 14th hole would be shortened, and the 12th hole lengthened to accommodate the development and to maintain the club’s 71 par men’s and 74 par women’s championship course. The existing maintenance facility would also be relocated.
The 18-hole course is one of only a few golf clubs in the world governed entirely by female members. The club was established in 1968 as an all-women’s club and remained so until late 2019, when the club’s constitution was changed to allow men to become full members.
Aura Holdings’ new plan follows its other village partnerships with golf clubs including its 168-apartment Somerset Indooroopilly on Indooroopilly Golf Club and its 79-apartment The Ninth Middle Ridge at Toowoomba Golf Club.
