Two purpose-built modular homes designed for seniors built in three months

The Livable Housing Australia Gold homes with a specific focus on catering to the needs of seniors living, including those who have challenges with mobility, have been delivered to the Thallon community in Southwest Queensland.

Sunshine Coast-based Oly HomesThallon project follows the successful delivery of nine modular homes and accessible units to Thursday Island late last year.

The homes are part of the Queensland Government’s QuickStarts Queensland initiative to provide a vital housing solution for ageing residents wishing to stay connected to their local community.

General Manager Steven Nousala said the innovative modular approach offers a faster, more adaptable solution to meet the unique housing needs of regional and remote communities.

“Both homes were built in our Yandina factory over a three-month time period which is a lot quicker than traditional building methods which can be impacted by weather, supplies and access to tradies,” Steven said.

“Once the homes were completed off site, we transported them to Thallon where ancillary services such as connections, driveways and fences were completed for the first residents to move in.”
