Victorian provider Lifeview commits to building LGBTI-friendly aged care home

1 min read

Construction on private operator Lifeview’s LGBTI-friendly aged care home Marigold in the inner-city Melbourne suburb of Prahran, 5km southeast of the city centre, is going ahead despite years of delays.

A spokesperson for Lifeview told The Weekly SOURCE: “Following a long delay with CitiPower over powerline placement and undergrounding, we now have a resolution.

“A builder has been appointed and we now await a demolition permit for the current site."

The provider now hopes to see the development, which was first announced in 2016, completed in late 2026, provided there are no further planning delays.

The high-end aged care development is part of a revitalisation of Greville Street and the area around Prahran Railway Station, with the ground floor offering retail spaces as well as incorporating the heritage listed corner building into its design.

The six-storey aged care facility will implement a ‘small house’ model of care, with residences grouped into small ‘houses’ of 12-14 rooms.

The SOURCE: In planning for more than eight years, this project will be Australia's first LGBTI-friendly aged care facility when complete.
