Village Retirement Group seeks to add to an already approved new $70M facility in Manly, Brisbane

Justin Harrison’s company is already selling homes in The Village Manly, its second joint venture with Anglicare Southern Queensland, in the bayside suburb 20km east of Brisbane’s CBD.

An information centre is open for the 100 two- and three-bedroom apartments in four buildings, four and six storeys high. A new development proposal has been lodged to extend the Over 65s community, which has yet to start construction.

Designed by O’Neil Architecture, the new proposal seeks a masterplan that replaces seven outdated existing buildings containing outdated independent living units, with an additional 87 modern contemporary units in six buildings, five to seven storeys high.

The original approval for the development was by the Queensland Planning and Environment Court on 13 December 2019.

The site already includes Anglicare Southern Queensland’s existing residential aged care facility, E.M. Tooth Memorial Home, and the heritage-listed Lota House.

The Village Manly will be the fifth Queensland retirement village operated by the family-owned Retirement Village Group. Justin (pictured) is Managing Director.
