Warrigal start building much-needed retirement village at Lake Illawarra, NSW South Coast

The new Warrigal Lake South Community Village will feature 65 two-bedroom villas, each equipped with sustainable energy solutions through individual solar panels.  

The village, on the site of the former Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Lake Illawarra, a suburb of Shellharbour, 85km south of Sydney’s CDB. will be built by Grindley Constructions. It will include a central community hub for social activities and gatherings, landscaped communal green spaces and gardens. There will be a communal EV charging stations. 

Warrigal CEO Jenni Hutchins made the One Move promise

“Our residents will enjoy serene and scenic surroundings, complemented by a comprehensive range of amenities and services tailored to meet their needs. And with our continuum of care, residents will never have to move again, as they will have the opportunity to access services that meet their changing needs as they age.” she said. 

Warrigal Lake South is scheduled for completion in 18 months. 

Warrigal acquired the site in December 2010, with the development application being approved by Shellharbour City Council in August 2023.
