South Australian Not For Profit home care and retirement living provider ECH has officially opened the doors to its latest vertical village – Encore Apartments – in Modbury, 15km northeast of Adelaide.
There are 77 two-bedroom open plan apartments in the vertical village, designed by Adelaide architects Walter Brooke and built by Sarah Construction. There is an onsite gym, cafe, community hall and community garden. With prices starting from $524,500, 65% are under contract.
The vertical village incorporates dementia-friendly design principles such as appropriate colour schemes and textures to enable people living with dementia to age in place.
“Our aim was to avoid hotel-like corridors, so each apartment includes a front porch and screen door to ensure the village has a neighbourhood feel,” said ECH CEO Dr David Panter.
A co-located early learning centre will be opened in January and will actively offer learning opportunities between children and ECH Encore residents.
Encore Apartments is ECH’s third vertical village after Manson Towers in Glenelg and Bowden Towers in Adelaide’s CBD.
