With occupancy rates at 94%, the mutual fund owns and operates 2,725 independent living units through 12 retirement villages and 12 integrated retirement living and residential aged care sites in NSW, Victoria and Queensland.

"Strong, steady sales growth has continued with over $121.3 million in resale settlements for the half-year ending 31 December 2023, exceeding the prior corresponding period by 30.9%," Australian Unity said in its 1H24 financial result.

Australian Unity also revealed that building work has begun on the $1.1 billion redevelopment of Herston Quarter - part of the Herston Health Precinct in Brisbane.

The master plan for the site includes construction of a new public health facility, a private hospital, aged care and retirement living, residential and student accommodation, childcare, additional car parking, commercial and retail facilities to support the new mixed-use community. Construction of the 78-place childcare facility is underway.
