$444,000 Inspector-General of Aged Care job readvertised

1 min read

The Inspector-General of Aged Care (IGAC) role, which is currently being filled in an Acting capacity by Ian Yates AM, has been readvertised.

The creation of the IGAC role, which is a five-year term with an annual salary of more than $444,000, was a recommendation of the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety and was announced in the May 2021 Federal Budget.

The IAG's function is to investigate, monitor, and report on the administration and governance of the aged care system.

Last year, Ian told our premium digital magazine SATURDAY that the IGAC office is also committed to improving the aged care experience of older people and their families.

The office has released a Progress Report on the Royal Commission recommendations and an Annual Work Plan for 2023-24, which included a review of My Aged Care.

Last month, the IGAC took the unusual step of issuing a statement in which is highlighted the Aged Care Taskforce's omission.

Recruitment for the role is being conducted by Amanda O’Rourke of Amanda O’Rourke Executive Search, which has conducted extensive recruitment for the Department of Health and Aged Care and other Government bodies. The recruitment firm has a seven-month, nearly $50,000 contract for general recruitment and candidate sourcing with the Department of Health and Aged Care which runs until 30 June 2024.

Suitably qualified candidates may apply for the job here.
