The Executive Director of the Retirement Living Council is unhappy that the sector is unlikely to be helped by any measures contained in the Federal Budget to be announced tomorrow night.
Daniel says "In the period since last year’s Budget and the one that will be presented next week, we’ve seen a ham-fisted review of the Aged Care Act, a significant delay to the public release of the Aged Care Taskforce recommendations, and still no official response from government," he told members.
"All the while, we’ve been socialising the RLC’s solutions-focused Shared Care framework which offers up to 20% systemwide efficiencies and $100 million in savings for consumers every year."
Daniel hopes he is wrong.
"However, given the recent pattern of legislative consultation over Christmas, radio silence on key Taskforce recommendations and a misunderstanding of how state retirement legislation interacts with commonwealth frameworks, I won’t be holding my breath," he added.
