Inspector-General of Aged Care calls for submissions on progress of Royal Commission recommendations

1 min read

The Office of the Inspector-General of Aged Care (OIGAC) is calling for submissions on how the implementation of the Aged Care Royal Commission recommendations is progressing.

In particular, the OIGAC is keen to understand how effectively people are able to access aged care for the first time, whether they can identify the care and support they need, and how well they are able to navigate the aged care system.

The OIGAC is also looking for feedback on dementia support, the star ratings system, and access to aged care in rural and remote areas, among other issues.

A paper outlining the submissions process is available here. Submissions can be made until 28 March 2024.

Care providers, consumer groups, peak bodies, academics, unions, government agencies, education providers, and anyone with an interest in the aged care system are encouraged to make a submission.

The OIGAC is keen to gain insights from First Nations people, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people with disabilities, LGBTQIA+ people, people with dementia, people living in rural and remote locations, and others with diverse backgrounds.

The 2024 Progress Report will build on the initial progress report prepared by the Interim Inspector-General in July 2023, and will be handed to the Minister for Aged Care before 1 June 2024 and tabled in Parliament within 15 sitting days.

Submissions can be emailed to royalcommission@igac.gov.au or posted to:
