LEADERS SUMMIT 2024 themed ‘Optimism: dawning of the silver decade’ attracted standing room only

On Tuesday and Wednesday this week, there was standing room only as 550 delegates flew in from around the country to attend LEADERS SUMMIT 2024 at Sydney's Hyatt Regency, with the theme of 'Optimism: dawning of the silver decade'.

DCM Group CEO Chris Baynes set the scene: two years ago the sector was in dire financial circumstances, prompting Chris and Grant Corderoy, Senior Partner StewartBrown, to devise Plan B, in which they would campaign for greater consumer contributions towards the cost of aged care - with the aim of injecting $3 billion by 2023.

It might be 12 months later than their hoped-for deadline, Chris said, but the Aged Care Taskforce's Final Report recommendations will, if enacted by the Government, have the potential to add $3.6 billion to the sector, according to StewartBrown's projections - putting the sector "in the black".

With 30 sessions over two days - including a video address by Aged Care Minister Anika Wells and breakout sessions on home care, aged care and retirement living - delegates heard from the leaders of the country's largest and most influential operators about their innovative strategies and how they are tackling the sector's issues in a convivial and collaborative atmosphere.
